Upgrade the GV Director Client and Server Software

These upgrade instructions apply to both the GV Director Control Surface (client) and GV Director Server. The software upgrade files are available for download under Service & Support on the Grass Valley Website.

1. Download the [GVDirectorSetup.exe] from the GV Director website at the following location: //www.grassvalley.com/GV_Director
2. Copy the downloaded file onto a thumb-drive or other USB based removable media device.
3. Connect the thumb-drive to the GV Director control surface.
4. Connect a mouse and a keyboard to the GV Director control surface. You must exit the client.
5. Ensure the GV Director server is running and connected to the panel.
6. From the maintenance screen (the slide down menu) select the Configuration menu, followed by the Close option. You will now be returned to the Windows desktop.
7. Uninstall the client:
   1. Click Start.
   2. Click Control Panel.

      

   3. Click Programs and Features.
   4. Right-click GVDirector.
   5. Click Uninstall.

      

      

   6. Click Yes to all of the “Are you sure…” prompts. Do not save your configuration, if prompted to do so.
8. Using the mouse, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the USB thumb-drive.
9. Double-click on the file you downloaded and follow the onscreen prompts. The client and server software will be upgraded.

   

   

   

10. Agree to the licensing information and then click Install. After the install, it will take less than 1 minute to start the server upgrade.
11. You will be prompted for the IP address of the server during the upgrade. The default server IP address is 192.168.100.100, but you may have a different IP address. You must click the IP entry field on the control panel to enable it. Enter the IP address of the server and tap the Connect button on the touchpad Control Surface.

    

    You have now upgraded the update manager. You will then need to enter the IP address again.

12. You will be prompted for the IP address of the server again during the upgrade. The default server IP address is 192.168.100.100, but you may have a different IP address. You must enable the IP entry field on the control panel by clicking on it with the mouse. Enter the IP address of the server and click the Connect button on the touchpad control surface.
13. Click OK on the Server Update Manager. Then, from the Wizard, click Finish.
14. Once the upgrade has been completed, restart the panel: select Restart. This may take several minutes.
