Adding an Elemental transcode profile

GV STRATUS rules support transcode profiles you create using third party applications. This topic provides steps for the Elemental® Server web application.

The following formats are supported as source formats for transcoding by the Elemental® application:
  • DV25/50
  • DVCAM
  • MPEG I-frame
  • MPEG long GoP
  • DVCPRO HD
  • MPEG XDCAM
  • AVC-Intra
  • DNxHD
These formats are supported in PAL and NTSC.

On the GV STRATUS server that hosts the GV STRATUS Xcode Control Engine (typically this is the GV STRATUS Core server), you can find Elemental files at C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\STRATUS Transcode Engine\Profiles\Elemental. These are samples that you can import into the Elemental transcoder. The XCode Control Engine reads out the profile information every two minutes and makes them available in GV STRATUS Rules.

  1. Using the Elemental Server web application, import the transcode profile as required by your workflow, with requirements as follows:
    • Only one output format per transcode profile is supported by GV STRATUS rules.
    • For an export rule, the profile description must start with the word Stratus,
    • For an import rule, the profile description must start with the words Stratus Import,
  2. Wait approximately two minutes for the GV STRATUS system to detect the Elemental configuration as a transcode profile.

The transcode profile is added in GV STRATUS Control Panel at General | Rules in Export Options settings as a Transcode Format.
