Verify that devices are configured properly

Within the Control Panel application, do the following to verify systems and tools are ready for configuration. Grass Valley recommends the GV STRATUS Control Panel is only configured on the Core server:

  • In the GV STRATUS Control Panel, do one or both of the following:
    • If your system has a K2 SAN, click Core | K2 Storage | K2 SAN Storage and verify that the information for the K2 SAN is the same information that is in K2Config. If the information is the same, it means that the Control Panel application is correctly reading the information from the K2Config application.
    • If your system has a standalone K2 Summit system, K2 SAN, K2 Central or Third Party Storage system, you must reconfigure MDI settings of all K2 Summit Standalone, K2 SAN, K2 Central, and Third Party Storage systems in this release. The Summit MDI Type has been renamed to Grass Valley Media Server in the MDI Configuration settings within GV STRATUS Control Panel.
    • If your system has a K2 SAN, K2 Central or Third Party Storage system, you must enter the Secondary Device in the MDI configuration. For optimum system performance it is recommended that if there are K2 Summit Clients, use them for the primary and secondary device. If there is only one client, use the client as the primary device and the FSM/Storage Manager as the secondary device. If it is shared storage with no attached K2 Summit clients, configure the primary FSM or Storage Manager as the primary device and the secondary FSM (if exists) or FTP Server as the secondary device.
    • If your system has a standalone K2 Summit system, verify the UNC Path in the standalone Grass Valley Media Server MDI configuration in Core | MDI Configuration | Managed Devices. Then, click Core | K2 Storage | K2 Standalone Storage and verify that the information for the K2 Summit system is the same information that is in SiteConfig. If the information is the same, it means that the Control Panel application is correctly reading the information from the SiteConfig application.
    • If your system has a GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server, configure the GV I/O channel formats in General | Channels | GV I/O to the desired formats configured in the General | Format | Formats settings. You must add and configure new channels in General | Channels | GV I/O if you added one or more GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Servers to your K2 SAN or GV AMS Pro - Advanced Media Storage system.
  • From each machine in the GV STRATUS system, verify that you can ping all the devices that the GV STRATUS server needs to communicate with over the control network.
  • For the machines that need to communicate with a Proxy server, verify you can log in to that Proxy server using the credentials that the system will be using.
  • If you exported an XML file backup of your GV STRATUS Rules before the upgrade, those rules cannot be used anymore once you upgrade to the latest software version due to the new encryption support. You must import the XML file backup into GV STRATUS system after the upgrade. Then, export your rules again and re-import them to enable the encryption.
  • The GV STRATUS database is automatically indexed to support enhanced search features. During this time, Search features and Rules are not fully functional. In GV STRATUS Control Panel, click Core | Search Index Config to view indexing progress.
  • Begin by configuring STRATUS Core Services settings and move on to other settings.

After automatic re-index completes, reboot system in the correct order and verify that the GV STRATUS-EDIUS system is working.

Note: If prompted for a Java update, upgrade to the latest version of Java software to ensure you have the latest security updates.
