Summary of upgrade from version 5.5 to version 6.0

Several upgrade tasks are new or require special consideration with this upgrade. Apply upgrade tasks as appropriate for your system design, as follows:
  • All systems:
    • SiteConfig: Before upgrading GV STRATUS, upgrade your SiteConfig application and Discovery Agent to the latest version. For more info, refer to Grass Valley products compatible with GV STRATUS.
    • GV STRATUS Web Client, GV STRATUS Web Apps, GV STRATUS Proxy Streaming Service, and GV STRATUS SocialMedia Engine: These new SiteConfig roles must be assigned to Express/Core server before upgrading the GV STRATUS system. For more details, refer to Add software roles for upgrade to version 6.0, Express server components, Core Server components, and SiteConfig Social Media Engine software install.
    • Dashboard - Channel Status, Dashboard - Quotas, Dashboard - Social Media, Dashboard - Statistics, Dashboard - Storage, Rename Asset Rights, WebAccess: After the upgrade, existing users and groups do not have this role assigned in GV STRATUS Control Panel, so you must assign the role if needed. If you create new users and groups, these new roles must be added or removed if appropriate. For more info, refer to Old GV STRATUS roles matrix.
    • GV STRATUS Social Media Engine: GV STRATUS supports the deployment of Social Media Engine on the GV STRATUS Core server, Workflow Server, or a separate server, to publish content and metadata to popular social media networks (such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube). Therefore, previously configured export rules to a YouTube Channel (destination) will not work anymore and must be deleted. For more info, refer to Disabling previous YouTube configuration.
    • GVRE Transcoder: GV Render Engine supports the new function as a generic transcoder for import and export rules. The STRATUS-TRANSCODE license must be installed to enable transcode functionality on the Render Engine server. For more info, refer to Working with GVRE Transcoder.
    • GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server: GV STRATUS introduces the GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server, a commodity hardware solution to support Ingests with up to four Recorder channels including the baseband HD-SDI support via an on-board video card on standard IT hardware. For more info, refer to Installing GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server.
    • Internal system account: If the internal system account for your GV STRATUS system is on a fully qualified domain or is not the default GVAdmin account, configure settings at GV STRATUS Control Panel Core | STRATUS Core Services | Primary Site as appropriate for your system.
  • Systems with Windows 2008 servers:
  • Systems with K2 SAN, K2 Central, Third Party and Grass Valley SMB Storage:
