Imaging the FT server: Type IV
This task applies to the Type IV FT Server model.
Do the following:
- Insert the Acronis thumbdrive, which also contains the image, into the front USB port.
- Lift the lid above the power button and press the power button.
- Allow the server to boot up and select F2 – Setup, when the option appears.
-
In the BIOS:
- Go to the Server tab and verify that the OS Boot Monitoring is set to Disabled.
-
Go to the Boot tab and change
the boot order as follows:
- Removable Disk
- CD/DVD
- HDD
- ...
- In the Boot tab, under HDD properties, set the thumbdrive disk (probably SanDisk) to the top in order to have the machine automatically boot off the thumbdrive.
- Save Changes and Exit, allowing the system to reboot.
-
Allow the server to boot into Acronis.
-
Under Disk Management, verify that all the partitions on
Disks 1 and 2, corresponding with the 800 GB disk drives in Slots 1, are deleted. If
any exists, delete them and commit the changes before proceeding.
Tip: If Acronis fails to delete all the partitions, you can plug the disk(s) into a separate FT server already running Windows and run the following commands in cmd shell:
>diskpart
>listdisk
>selectdisk [#]
>clean
>exit
-
Recover the FT image to Disk 1 (the top, primary server), selecting all the
check-boxes listing the partitions.
Note: You will need to create the D: Data and E: Backup partitions in Disk Management later.
- After imaging, close Acronis and quickly remove both the thumbdrive and the bottom drive in Slot 1 as the server reboots—this will ensure that the top server is primary and that you boot off Disk 1.
-

-
Allow the server to boot into Windows.
This will take about 10 minutes and an automatic reboot will occur halfway through.
