Summary of upgrade from version 6.8 to version 6.9

Several upgrade tasks are new or require special consideration with this upgrade. Apply upgrade tasks as appropriate for your system design, as follows:
  • All systems:
    • SiteConfig: Before upgrading GV STRATUS, upgrade your SiteConfig application and Discovery Agent to the latest version. For more info, refer to Grass Valley products compatible with GV STRATUS.
    • StorNext LAN Connect support — GV STRATUS supports the Quantum® StorNext LAN Connect method for redundant connections with K2 Summit SAN shared storage system. For more info, refer to Media (iSCSI or LAN Connect) network description, Configuring a GV STRATUS server on a K2 SAN, and K2Config setup for high-resolution client PC.
    • Password encryption: To enable password encryption in GV STRATUS system after the software upgrade, you must run the Key Upgrade Utility on the GV STRATUS Core server. For more info, refer to Upgrade GV STRATUS system with the Key Upgrade Utility.
    • GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server cabling: New cabling must be done for GV I/O systems before the software upgrade. For latest cabling instructions, refer to Cabling GV I/O server: SDI option and Cabling GV I/O server: IP option.
    • GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server SiteConfig roles: These new SiteConfig roles for Standalone, K2 Summit SAN client, or GV AMS Pro - Advanced Media Storage storage client must be assigned to GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server before upgrading the GV STRATUS system, if applicable. For more details, refer to Add software roles for upgrade to version 6.9.1.
Note: MPIcore must be manually un-installed on any current GV I/O device(s) before the upgrade.
    • GV STRATUS Rules Backup: If you exported an XML file backup of your actual rules before the upgrade, those rules cannot be used anymore once you upgrade to version 6.9 due to the new encryption support. You must import the XML file backup into GV STRATUS system after the upgrade. Then, export your rules again and re-import them to enable the encryption. For more info, refer to Exporting rules and Importing rules.
    • Internal system account: If the internal system account for your GV STRATUS system is on a fully qualified domain or is not the default GVAdmin account, configure settings at GV STRATUS Control Panel Core | STRATUS Core Services | Primary Site as appropriate for your system.
  • Systems with Windows 2008 servers:
