Introduction

The GV I/O Ingest Appliance provides the ability to build a non-K2 Summit based GV STRATUS solution on COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) IT hardware and storage. GV STRATUS users can now purchase a commodity hardware solution and add the baseband HD-SDI support via an on-board video card.

The GV I/O Ingest Appliance supports production requiring cost effective Ingest without the need for Replay in a fast paced News or Sports workflow. In addition, it supports studio and web production, live audience studio shows, multi-camera ISO recording, and any operation that requires multi-channel ingests in the editing and production environment.

The GV I/O Ingest Appliance has up to four Recorder channels of SD, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p video formats. As an alternative to K2 Summit systems, the GV I/O Ingest Appliance utilizes Dell PowerEdge R640 servers with an AJA card for channel feeds and 1G/10G network adapters for Control, and with SMB, IP, or iSCSI connections. The server also supports common SD and HD codecs without additional licenses.
