Add software roles for upgrade to version 6.8

Before doing this task, make sure devices are added to the SiteConfig system description with the correct family and device type. Refer to Complete listing of device types, roles, and software packages for GV STRATUS devices.

For your K2 Summit systems, make sure you have separate deployment groups for the upgrade to version 9.8.x and version 10.1.x if you have both versions in your operation.

Note: If upgrading to K2 Summit version 10.1.x, you cannot use Siteconfig to directly upgrade from SNFS 4.7 to SNFS 6.0 on FSMs and K2 Standalone Summits. Refer to Upgrading to SNFS 6.0 before proceeding, if applicable.
These SiteConfig roles are new or require special consideration with this software upgrade. Verify and add roles if necessary.
  1. As appropriate for your system design and licensing, in your SiteConfig system description, configure as follows:
    • For your GV STRATUS Express Server, or Core Server, add the new device as follows:
      • GV STRATUS Proxy Streaming Server (optional)
These new roles will be automatically added:
        • GV STRATUS Proxy Streaming Service
        • GV Embedded Security Manager
        • GV Log Manager
    • For your GV STRATUS Express Server, Core Server, Workflow Server or a separate server, add the new role as follows:

    • For your GV I/O Client - Standalone device, add the new device as follows:

These new roles will be automatically added as follows:
        • GV STRATUS IO Appliance
        • GV Embedded Security Manager
        • GV STRATUS Summit Service
    • For your GV I/O Client - Shared Storage device, add the new device to Isilon system deployment group as follows:
      • GV I/O Client (SMB)
These new roles will be automatically added as follows:
        • GV STRATUS IO Appliance
        • GV Embedded Security Manager
Note: GVEngine and MPIcore must be manually installed on any GV I/O device(s). The installation files can be procured from the Grass Valley FTP site.
  2. Save SiteConfig and verify in C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\ConfigurationDataFiles\SiteConfig that .scsd and .config files are saved to the Core server.
If you want to verify all your currently configured SiteConfig roles, refer to the complete list of roles and software packages.
