Introduction

The GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server provides the ability to build a non-K2 Summit based GV STRATUS solution on COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) IT hardware and storage. GV STRATUS users can now purchase a commodity hardware solution and add the baseband HD-SDI support via an on-board video card. The GV I/O server may also be configured as a standalone device with local storage, or a shared storage client with Dell EMC Isilon network-attached storage system.

The GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server supports production requiring cost effective Ingest and Replay in a fast paced News or Sports workflow. In addition, it supports studio and web production, live audience studio shows, and any operation that requires multi-channel ingests and playbacks in the editing and production environment.

The GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server has up to four Recorder/Player channels that support SD, 720p, and 1080i video formats. As an alternative to K2 Summit systems, the GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server utilizes Dell PowerEdge R640 servers with an AJA^® Corvid 88 card for SDI connections to support channel ingests and playback. The 1G/10G network adapters are provided for Control, and SMB, IP, or iSCSI connections. In addition, the Mellanox ConnectX^®-4 25 GigE network adapter card is supported for IP ingests. The GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server also supports common SD and HD codecs without additional licenses.
