Preparing for GV I/O installation

Before installing, do the following:

  • Procure the software installation files for this release via the appropriate distribution method, such as download, network drive, or external drive.
  • Image the GV I/O using the latest Dell image and its associated Acronis version.
  • Allow the GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server to boot up for the first time, and name the server when prompted to after the first log in.
  • Open Computer Management, Disk Management and do the following:
    • Split the C: and D: drive equally on the RAID 1 SSDs.
    • For Standalone client only - Create the V: Media drives on the four RAID 5 drives.
  • Configure the Control network. Work with the IT personnel at the site to configure Domain, DNS, DHCP, or any other settings required by the site’s LAN.
  • Run the WeightNetworkAdapters.ps1 file and enter the names of four adapters as follows:
    1. Control network
    2. FTP network, if applicable. (Enter Unused 1 if the network adapter is not used)
    3. iSCSI A or Isilon network, if applicable. (Enter Unused 2 if the network adapter is not used)
    4. iSCSI B network, if applicable. (Enter Unused 3 if the network adapter is not used)
  • Add the GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server to a domain, or update and use hosts files.
  • Install the latest SiteConfig application.
  • Install Discovery Agent 2.2.0.205 or higher, which includes the GV I/O Live Ingest and Playback Server.
  • Install all Important Windows updates.
