Replacing the RAID Controller

CAUTION: This system contains board-level components that must be protected from static discharge and physical shock. Wear a wrist strap grounded to the system chassis when handling system components.

  1. Shutdown the K2 Central-Tx Server. Disconnect all AC power cords.
  2. Remove the top cover.
  3. Locate the RAID Controller board in PCIe slot 2 of the chassis. Slot 2 is the second slot counting from right to left looking from the rear of the chassis.

  4. Remove the two cables from the back of the RAID Controller board noting which cables are connected to the top and bottom connectors. These are the cables that connect the RAID Controller board to the Media Drive Backplane.
  5. Remove the screw holding the board to the chassis.
  6. Carefully remove the RAID Controller board from the chassis.
  7. Carefully insert the replacement RAID Controller board into PCIe slot 2. NOTE: The RAID Controller board must be in PCIe slot 2 for the system to operate properly.
  8. Secure the RAID Controller board to the chassis with the screw previously removed.
  9. Replace the cables into the back of the RAID Controller board, careful to place them in the same positions as they previously were.
  10. Replace the cover.
  11. Reconnect the AC power cords.

The K2 Central-Tx Server is now ready for use. Use the packaging to return the old RAID Controller board to the designated return depot.
