Removing and Replacing the System Drive

  1. System drives are found in the back of the chassis next to the power supplies. They are stacked vertically one above the other. Remove the desired system drive (Top is Port 3, Bottom is Port 2).
    1. Press the carrier button to release the handle.
    2. Pull the handle out to release the carrier from the slot.
    3. Pull the drive straight out of the slot.

  2. Replace the drive with the new one.
    1. Ensure the handle on the carrier is open.
    2. Orient the drive carrier vertically so that the carrier release button is down.
    3. Slide the drive into the slot. When the carrier reaches the rear of the slot the carrier handle will retract.
    4. Push against the upper part of the carrier handle with a thumb. Push the drive into the slot until the drive and carrier handle clicks into the locked position.
  3. When the new drive is properly seated the drive will automatically start rebuilding. Progress of the rebuilding drive is displayed under Volume Properties. With the Volume icon selected the information is displayed at the right of the window and also in the Information tab at the bottom.
  4. Rebuilding will continue until complete. The IntelĀ© Rapid Storage Technology enterprise application does not have to remain open for the rebuilding to complete.
  5. Return the parts. Use the packaging to return the old system drive and carrier back to the specified service location.
