Replacing the System Drive

The system drives are a pair of SATA SSDs bound as a RAID1 LUN. These are hot-swappable drives, meaning they can be replaced while the system is powered on and running. This is a good thing as you most likely need the software to indicate which drive to replace.

Identify What Drive To Replace
  1. Start the Intel© Rapid Storage Technology enterprise application.
    1. Logon as Administrator.
    2. Select Start and Search for “rapid.”
    3. Select Intel© Rapid Storage Technology enterprise to start the application.

  2. The Intel© Rapid Storage Technology enterprise application displays the system drives and their status. Select disk icons for status of that drive. Disk information is displayed below the icon while the mouse hovers and to the right of the window under Disk Properties.

  3. The failing drive will not have a Status of “Normal”. Note the Location identified in the information. Controller 0, Port 3 is the top drive. Controller 0, Port 2 is the bottom drive. NOTE: The Activate LED option is not implemented in this version of hardware.
