K2 Summit
KT-8041 |
Description: |
Recommended maintenance schedule for K2 products. |
|
Workaround: |
Refer to the Recommended maintenance schedule for K2 products
table below. |
KT-8493 |
Description: |
If a known, good disk is removed and reinserted in a Summit-3G the
disk does NOT start an automatic rebuild. This is a change made to
accommodate the new AIC Controller. The rebuild must be started
manually. If the disk is a new one that is not associated with this
system the rebuild will start automatically after the disk is
inserted. |
|
Workaround: |
After the disk is reinserted the disk will show up in Storage Utility
in an unbound state. Right click on the disk to see the option to
rebuild under the advanced selection. Select rebuild. The rebuild will
begin. |
KT-8329 |
Description: |
Multiple instances of M110 controllers display in Storage Utility.
Occasionally the Storage Utility view window shows more controllers than
are actually installed in the SAN. This often happens after binding or
unbinding LUNs |
|
Workaround: |
Refreshing the view or re-launching Storage Utility will display the correct
information. |
KT-8483 |
Description: |
Licenses lost when replacing the 10Gb Ethernet card. This issue is
associated with the K2 Summit 9.5 and 9.6 releases. SabreTooth licenses
are associated with the first network adapter encountered in the
systems. Licenses added to K2 Summit after installing the 10Gb Ethernet
card may become associated with the network adapters of that card. When
this is the case if the 10Gb Ethernet card is removed or replaced the
SabreTooth licenses associated with those adapters will no longer be
valid. The same thing happens when replacing the K2 Summit carrier board
that has the primary Ethernet network adapter. Conversely if the K2
Summit carrier board is replaced the licenses associated with the 10Gb
Ethernet network adapters will remain valid. |
|
Workaround: |
Use the license request wizard to generate a request for missing
licenses and send that request to customer service. Install the new
licenses to replace the old. |
KT-8477 |
Description: |
P2 Export does not export AVC/H.264 clips. The export will fail and
log a message that P2 Export of AVC/H.264 is not supported. |
|
Workaround: |
Use a different transfer method. |
KT-8434 |
Description: |
When binding a LUN on a fiber channel SAN with storage and 4k sector drives, the user
must select the "Fiber Channel SAN" option when binding the LUN with
Storage Utility. This is necessary since Summit operating system
(Windows 7) does not support native 4k sector disks. If the Summit is
directly attached to the fiber network (not through an iSCSI bridge) the
LUN must be bound with with this option set before creating the file
system. It is not necessary if the only systems on the fiber network are
Windows Server 2012 systems and the FSM is providing an iSCSI bridge
topology. |
|
Workaround: |
See description above. |

Long-GOPH.264 is not available in this release. |
Recommended maintenance schedule for K2 products
As with any
tool regular maintenance and attention to the K2 clients and servers will help
prevent problems and detect issues before they interfere with operations. Be sure to
check the operation of K2 clients and servers on a regular basis. Products such as
NetCentral and GV Guardian are key components to keep systems running well and
alerting when problems arise.
NOTE: Those with the "1 year+" notation have
run under normal operation well beyond 1 year in service. We still recommend a
preemptive reboot on a regular schedule when such maintenance is planned. This helps
ensure the system does not go down for preventable situations when it is not
planned.
Grass Valley recommends a regular reboot for clients and servers to avoid
situations that will unexpectedly take down a system. Here is the recommended
schedule:
K2 Clients (3.3 and earlier software) |
6 months |
K2 Servers (3.3 and earlier software) |
1 year |
K2 Summit (7.3 and earlier software) |
6 months |
K2 Summit (7.4 to 8.1 software) |
1 year |
K2 Server (Windows Server 2003) |
1 year |
K2 Summit/Summit3G (9.0 and later software) |
1 year+ |
K2 Server (Windows Server 2008 R2) |
1 year+ |
K2 Server (Windows Server 2012 R2) |
1 year+ |

K2 Central
KT-8036 |
Description: |
Document command line for loading firmware to multiple
drives |
|
Workaround: |
It is recommended to have all drives in a K2Central server at the same version of
firmware. Drive firmware can be updated one drive at a time using
StorageUtil. Another way is to flash the firmware for all drives in a
system with one command. Procedure:
- Open a command shell or power shell window with
administrator access.
- Execute the following command using the name of the drive
firmware file to flash to all drives.
- cd C:\Program Files (x86)\MegaRAID Storage
Manager
- StorCLI64.exe /c0 /sall download src=<file>
- Example: StorCLI64.exe /c0 /sall download
src=HITACHI_7K6000_A519.bin
- Firmware will be updated to each drive one at a time. Ignore
timeouts and let the process run to completion. A set of 24
drives takes about 15 minutes to update.

Description: |
Isilon: Database migration requires a second
reboot |
|
Workaround: |
When a User attempts to migrate a database for the first from the
default location ie V:\media\media.db race conditions are created to
prevent the database from connecting properly. Once the database is
copied to the desired location via the DBPath registry key, a second
reboot is needed to ensure services are started in the properorder and
database connectivity to be restored. Additional note: All connected
summits will need to be restarted too. |
KT-8060 |
Description |
Channel configurations may be lost upgrading to 9.5. |
|
Workaround |
When using Siteconfig to upgrade from 9.4.2.2196 to 9.5.5.2266, all channel lost their
configurations. - Channels went from EE to PB mode - Timecode went from
TOD back to INT - All channels went back to SD--most were set to 720p or
1080i - All channels lost their proxy setup settings. - The Multi-cam
channel went back to a single Player/Recorder. - AMP protocol went back
to VDCP Note that these settings are reverting back to defaults.
Normally this should not happen for a software-only upgrade. |

K2Config/Site
Config and Windows Server 2012
Known Issues in Previous Releases
KT-2262 |
Description: |
K2Config/SiteConfig have problem connecting and configuring Windows Server
2012 machines. The problem is that the Public firewall gets enabled
after one of the following occured: 1) Static IP address is set for the
NIC port 2) SNFS/Discovery Agent is installed. When the firewall is
enabled, SiteConfig can't install software on Server; K2Config can't
connect to the server and configure it. |
|
Workaround: |
Then restart SiteConfig/K2Config. Note that the base image has all firewall
disabled. |

bring the system back into its operational rating:
- Use split audio on the triple Multi-Cam channels instead of
no split audio
- Drop the video bit rate to 50Mbps
- Do not use ShareFlex
- Use SSDs instead of hard drives

because the installation program tries to install components that are already
present in Windows 7.

|
On a stand-alone K2 Summit/Solo configured for K2 Dyno
PA, the V: drive is not available. This occurs if the K2 system is started
without a network connection or otherwise used outside of the Dyno PA system.
|
Workaround:
|
Remove the DLC configuration from the K2 Summit/Solo as
instructed in Dyno PA documentation. Verify that the loopback adapter is at the
top of the adapter order list. This is required for a stand-alone K2 system
that is not part of a Dyno PA system.

append record. |
