Creating placeholders automatically in Inception

You can create placeholders within Inception and they are automatically populated into the Assignment List of GV STRATUS.

  1. Create a new rundown as you normally would. See the Inception documentation for details.
  2. Create a new story in your rundown.

The story opens in a new window.

  3. Click the Create MOS Placeholder icon on the toolbar of the story.
  4. Select the MOS device configured for GV STRATUS operation.

The Create MOS Placeholder dialog opens.

  5. Enter the Slug name and click OK.

A placeholder is created in the Inception story.

The same placeholder is also automatically created in the Assignment List of GV STRATUS ActiveX Plug-in.

You can double-click the placeholder to view it in the Inspector within GV STRATUS ActiveX Plug-in.

Note: With Inception version 11.0, double-clicking placeholders from Inception may not load in the Inspector automatically (in the case where launching the GV STRATUS ActiveX from fresh or re-launching the GV STRATUS ActiveX again after exiting/closing GV STRATUS ActiveX). You have to double-click the placeholder again to view it in the Inspector after GV STRATUS ActiveX is launched.

You can then drag and drop clips into placeholders and those clips will be automatically associated with your stories in Inception. However, take note of these current limitations between GV STRATUS and Inception:

  • A clip cannot be dragged and dropped to Inception more than 5 times (even if the same clip is renamed).
  • A clip cannot be renamed after it is linked to placeholder (after dragging the clip to Inception).
  • Asset name cannot be [AssetName]_[xxxxyyyy] or with multiple '_[xxxxyyyy]' following the [AssetName] (eg: AssetName_12345678_12345678 OR AssetName_12345678_12345678_12345678 OR AssetName_20190101)
