Summary of upgrade from version 6.10 to version 6.11
Several upgrade tasks are new or require special consideration with this
upgrade. Apply upgrade tasks as appropriate for your system design, as follows:
- All systems:
- SiteConfig: Before upgrading GV STRATUS, upgrade your SiteConfig application and Discovery Agent to the latest version. For more info, refer to Grass Valley products compatible with GV STRATUS.
- Channel Profile setup in Scheduler: GV STRATUS supports record format control in the Scheduler tool by allowing users to set specific profile for ingest channels. Currently, channel profile setup is supported on GV I/O ingest channels only. For more info, refer to Channel Profile Setup settings and Selecting a channel profile.
- GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server cabling: New cabling must be done for GV I/O systems before the software upgrade. For latest cabling instructions, refer to Cabling GV I/O server: SDI option and Cabling GV I/O server: IP option.
- GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server SiteConfig roles: The SiteConfig roles for Standalone, K2
Summit SAN client, or GV AMS Pro - Advanced Media Storage storage
client must be assigned to GV I/O Live Ingest and Playout Server before upgrading
the GV I/O system, if applicable. For more details, refer to Adding a GV I/O Client -

- Shared Storage to the system description and GV I/O upgrade
instructions.Note: MPIcore must be manually un-installed on any current GV I/O device(s) before the upgrade.
- Password encryption: To enable password encryption in GV STRATUS system after the software upgrade, you must run the Key Upgrade Utility on the GV STRATUS Core server. For more info, refer to Upgrade GV STRATUS system with the Key Upgrade Utility.
- Internal system account: If the internal system account for your GV STRATUS system is on a fully qualified domain or is not the default GVAdmin account, configure settings at GV STRATUS Control Panel Core | STRATUS Core Services | Primary Site as appropriate for your system.
- Systems with Windows 2008 servers:
- Requires an upgrade to Windows 2012 or Windows 2016 operating system. For more details, refer to Upgrade GV STRATUS server OS from Windows 2008/2012 to Windows 2016.
