Summary of upgrade from version 6.11 to version 7.0
Several upgrade tasks are new or require special consideration with this
upgrade. Apply upgrade tasks as appropriate for your system design, as follows:
- All systems:
- SiteConfig: Before upgrading GV STRATUS, upgrade your SiteConfig application and Discovery Agent to the latest version. For more info, refer to Grass Valley products compatible with GV STRATUS.
- Microsoft .NET Core versions 2.2.2 and 2.2.8 install: All GV STRATUS servers must be installed with Microsoft .NET Core versions 2.2.2 and 2.2.8 in order to retrieve Ingest channel configurations after the GV STRATUS upgrade. For more details, refer to Installing .NET Core.
- Ingest Migration tool: All GV STRATUS systems with Ingest Services are required to run the Ingest Migration tool on GV STRATUS Core server for this upgrade. For more details, refer to Upgrade GV STRATUS system with the Ingest Migration tool.
- AMPP Integration configuration: To integrate the workflow between GV STRATUS and AMPP in your operation, configure the AMPP Integration settings in GV STRATUS Control Panel and create the AMPP Connected rule. For more details, refer to AMPP Integration settings and Adding an AMPP Connected rule.
- Ingest channel settings in GV STRATUS Control Panel: This latest release introduces minor changes to ingest channel configuration in GV STRATUS Control Panel. The new channel settings support a simpler configuration for ingest channels with K2 Summit and GV I/O media servers. For more info, refer to Ingest Channel Add/Modify settings.
- Password encryption: To enable password encryption in GV STRATUS system after the software upgrade, you must run the Key Upgrade Utility on the GV STRATUS Core server. For more info, refer to Upgrade GV STRATUS system with the Key Upgrade Utility.
- Internal system account: If the internal system account for your GV STRATUS system is on a fully qualified domain or is not the default GVAdmin account, configure settings at GV STRATUS Control Panel Core | STRATUS Core Services | Primary Site as appropriate for your system.
- Systems with Windows 2008 servers:
- Requires an upgrade to Windows 2012 or Windows 2016 operating system. For more details, refer to Upgrade GV STRATUS server OS from Windows 2008/2012 to Windows 2016.
